What is NAD+?

NAD+ (Nicotinamide Adenine Dinucleotide) is one of the body’s most important cellular coenzymes, a naturally occurring molecule every cell relies on to create energy, repair DNA, and regulate healthy ageing. It’s central to mitochondrial performance and how efficiently your body functions day to day. NAD+ levels naturally decline over time from around 30years of age, which is why restoring them is a key focus in modern longevity and performance science.

The critical role of NAD+ in cellular health

Your cells create energy through a process called cellular respiration, where nutrients like glucose are converted into ATP, the body’s main energy currency. NAD+ is a critical part of that system. It works as an electron carrier, NAD+ collects electrons to become NADH, and delivers them into the mitochondria to drive ATP production.

NAD+ is present in almost every cell in the body, especially in high-energy tissues like the brain, heart, muscles, and lungs. Beyond energy, it also acts as a coenzyme, helping activate proteins that regulate metabolism, repair DNA, and keep cells functioning efficiently. In short, NAD+ helps your body turn food into fuel, repair daily cellular damage, making it foundational to long-term vitality and performance. NAD+ is fundamental to maintaining overall cellular health, helping to slow the ageing process and reduce the risk of disease.
